Alongside her directing credits, Margie is a keen designer and installation artist and has created the overall aesthetic for most of her productions.

Margie has also been invited as a guest maker and designer in many different settings including for companies such as Strange Fruit, Born in a Taxi, and Clock 'n Spiel street theatre among others. She has many costume design credits to her name, and is best known for her designs for The Hunting Party street theatre company. Margie is interested in utilising non-conventional sites for performance by creating resonant and poetic design interventions.

In 2014 Margie designed the Avoca Dragon for the Avoca Chinese Gardens, as well as directing its opening ceremony as part of the Regional Arts Victoria Small Town Transformation project in Avoca led by Prof. Lynal Jones. In 2010, Margie designed the site for Quiet Emergency - in Cape Town South Africa.

In 2008 Margie designed Longing, Belonging, Land for the Opening of the Melbourne International Arts Festival. In 2010 she was designer and co-director for Swan hill's Illuminated by fire.

In 2005 Margie travelled to Taiwan where she was a section leader for the Dream Community Parade in Shijr City, an event involving over 2000 community performers.




In 2003 Margie created the set design, shadow puppetry, costume design and projections for Grace Walpole and Nancy Sposato's Aviatrix.

In 2002 Margie was guest performer and pyrotechnic costume designer with the Beltane Fire Society in Edinburgh, & in August of that year was Ceremony Director for ‘Song of The River’ project, a fire ritual celebration, in Worcester, Vermont USA.

In 2001 Margie designed and co-built the Balinese themed installation on a 24 foot barge which formed the performance platform for Balinese community in Queensland's "River of Fire' Event of National Significance for the Centenary of Federation.

Margie's other design credits include Reliquary, an installation for Caravan Poetic Melbourne International Festival of the Arts 1998, whilst also designing and making sets & puppets for the theatre cabaret show Song for a Siren (winner of the 1998 Fringe cabaret award).

Other installations have included an open air shrine to Anne Frank in Amsterdam: ‘To be someone you must have flair’ 2000.
